This beautiful watermill is under new ownership since September 2010 and is now available for holiday rentals.
Both cottages are available for long lets throughout much of the year, offering an ideal chance for anyone interested in buying a home in Brittany to get to know the area a little better before making that important choice.
Moulin de Griffet is the site of an original Napoleonic watermill in the rural heart of Southern Brittany, north-west France and is the perfect destination for an idyllic, relaxing family holiday or a quiet and romantic weekend away from it all. Set in four acres of private grounds, the site boasts its own lake, river access, millwheel, fishing, swimming, canoeing, mature woodland, terraces, fruit trees, and an abundance of berries, birds and wildlife.
Moulin de Griffet has two lovely holiday cottages, each sleeping at least seven people in comfort - The Mill House and The Cottage - see below. Preparations for the renovation on a third cottage on-site have begun.

The Mill House (above) is a beautiful stone cottage dating from the 1700s which has been recently restored to an exceptionally high standard. Adjoining the original Mill building to its right, the accommodation is on three floors.
The Cottage (below, with blue shutters) stands separately, at the end of the driveway which runs behind the Mill House. Offering beautiful views across the lake, the accommodation is on two floors.

One boundary of the property looks across local farmland (below)

Another boundary opens onto the beautiful weir - nature's own swimming pool
Start the day with some early morning fishing or a relaxed stroll around the lake to the sound of the dawn chorus.

Later on, go for a gentle cycle along the canal towpath or explore the waterways more closely in one of the kayaks provided.
After lunch, venture further afield to the nearby bustling town of Josselin for some sightseeing or shopping. Stop at a local Breton patisserie and enjoy some tarte à fraise or one of Brittany’s famous galettes at the local créperie.
Enjoy a long, cool pastis in the warm evening sunshine back at the Moulin before rounding off the evening with a family barbeque on the terrace overlooking the lake.
Seventy-five metres from the front door runs the River Oust. In the 1700s, Napoleon 'canal-ised' this and other Breton rivers to create 360km of navigable waterway - the Nantes-Brest Canal - which overcame English naval blockades around the Breton coastline. But for you, it offers simpler things - you can enjoy safe swimming, fishing and boating. Kayaks, Indian canoe and lifejackets are supplied on site free of charge.

Boats and boots on the weir - safe and fun for all
The extensive grounds and surrounding woodlands, fields and waterways make Moulin de Griffet an exciting place for children.
Having separate houses close to each other makes Moulin de Griffet an ideal site for extended groups of family or friends who wish to share their holiday, but not their holiday home.
